Year ending 31 December 2023

A recommended interim dividend of 48.3¢ was announced on 8 August 2023. The dividend was paid on 5 October 2023 to shareholders on the register at the close of business on 1 September 2023. The sterling amount of 38.7 pence per ordinary share was announced on 14 September 2023, calculated based on the average market exchange rates for the three working dates commencing 11 September 2023.

A final dividend for 2023 amounting to 104.0¢ is proposed. Subject to shareholder approval at IHG's 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM), the final dividend will be paid on 14 May 2024 to shareholders on the register at the close of business on 5 April 2024.

The final dividend pence sterling amount of 83.9 pence per ordinary share was announced on 25 April 2024, calculated based on the average of the market exchange rates for the three working days commencing 22 April 2024.

Year ending 31 December 2022

A recommended interim dividend of 43.9¢ was announcement on 9 August 2022. The dividend was paid on 6 October 2022 to shareholders on the register at the close of business on 2 September 2022. The sterling amount of 37.8 pence per ordinary share was announced on 15 September 2022, calculated based on the average market exchange rates for the three working dates commencing 12 September 2022.

A final dividend for 2022 amounting to 94.5¢ was announced on 21 February 2023 and approved at IHG's 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM), and was paid on 16 May 2023 to shareholders on the register at the close of business on 31 March 2023.

The final dividend pence sterling amount of 76.08 pence per ordinary share was announced on 26 April 2023, calculated based on the average of the market exchange rates for the three working days commencing 21 April 2023.

Year ending 31 December 2021

A final dividend for 2021 amounting to 85.9¢ was announced on 22 February 2022 and approved at IHG’s 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM), and was paid on 17 May 2022 to shareholders on the register at the close of business on 1 April 2022.

The final dividend pence sterling amount of 67.50 pence per ordinary share was announced on 27 April 2022, calculated based on the average of the market exchange rates for the three working days commencing 22 April 2022.

Year ending 31 December 2020

On 20 March 2020, IHG’s Board withdrew its recommendation of a final dividend in respect of 2019 of 85.9¢ per share.

A final dividend in respect of 2020 was not proposed and there was no interim dividend for the year.

Year ending 31 December 2019

As announced to the London and New York Stock Exchanges on 20 March 2020, the Board withdrew its recommendation of a final dividend of 85.9c (~$150m) announced on 18 February 2020. 

An Interim Dividend of 32.0 pence per ordinary share (39.9¢ per ADR) was paid on 3 October 2019 to shareholders on the Register at the close of business on 30 August 2019.

Year ending 31 December 2018

A Final Dividend of 78.1¢ was paid on 14 May 2019 to shareholders on the Register at the close of business on 29 March 2019.

A Special Dividend of 203.8 pence per ordinary share (262.1¢ per ADR) was paid on 29 January to shareholders on the Register at the close of business on 11 January 2019. 

An Interim Dividend of 27.7 pence per ordinary share (36.3¢ per ADR) was paid on 5 October to shareholders on the Register at the close of business on 31 August 2018.

At the AGM held on 4 May 2018, a final dividend of 50.2p per ordinary share (71.0¢ per ADR), payable on 11 May 2018 to shareholders on the Register at the close of business on 3 April 2018, was approved.

An interim dividend of 24.4p per ordinary share (33.0¢ per ADR) was paid on 6 October to shareholders on the Register at the close of business on 1 September 2017.

Year ended 31 December 2004

An interim dividend of 4.3p per ordinary share was paid on 18 October 2004 to shareholders on the Register at the close of business on 24 September 2004.
A special interim dividend of 72.0p per ordinary share was paid on 17 December 2004 to shareholders on the Register at the close of business on 10 December 2004.
A final dividend of 10.0p per ordinary share was paid on 3 June 2005 to shareholders on the Register at the close of business on 1 April 2005. This made a total dividend for the year (excluding the special interim dividend) of 14.3p per share.

Year ended 31 December 2003

An interim dividend of 4.05p per ordinary share was paid on 14 October 2003 to shareholders on the Register at the close of business on 26 September 2003. A final dividend of 9.45p per ordinary share was paid on 7 June 2004 to shareholders on the Register at the close of business on 26 March 2004. This made a total dividend for the year of 13.5p per share.

Separation of Six Continents into two new businesses

An interim dividend of 6.6p per ordinary share was paid on 9 April 2003 for the period prior to implementation of the proposals to separate the businesses of Six Continents into two new listed groups: InterContinental Hotels Group PLC and Mitchells & Butlers PLC.

Year ended 30 September 2002– Six Continents PLC

An interim dividend of 10.7p per ordinary share was paid on 31 July 2002. A final dividend of 24.6p per ordinary share was paid on 17 February 2003 to shareholders on the Register at the close of business on 20 December 2002. This made a total dividend for the year of 35.3p per share.

An interim dividend of 10.4p per ordinary share was paid on 31 July 2001. A final dividend of 23.9p per ordinary share was paid on 18 February 2002 to shareholders on the Register at the close of business on 21 December 2001; this made a total dividend for the year of 34.3p per share.

An interim dividend of 10.1p per ordinary share was paid on 31 July 2000. A final dividend of 23.2p per ordinary share was paid on 19 February 2001 to shareholders on the Register at close of business on 22 December 2000; this made a total dividend for the year of 33.3p per share.
